About our Apprenticeship programme

Our Apprenticeship programme, commencing September 2012, is the ideal introduction onto the best career path in the energy industry. Lasting 3-4 years, it will provide you with a mix of on-the-job training, technical knowledge and competence-based learning. It offers a choice of four roles - Telemetry/Telecommunications Technicians, Overhead Lineworkers, Cable Jointers and Electrical Fitters.

The first year of your programme will be spent with our Training Partner in Blackburn, dependent  upon your home location and accessibility to transport this may require you to stay away from home for the duration of the training. If this is the case accommodation will be provided by the company.

Please be aware that you’ll need to indicate which role you wish to apply for in your application form. Ultimately, the programme will support you all the way to achieving a City & Guilds Level 2 qualification and Diploma.

To be considered for any role on the programme you’ll need:

  • 5 GCSEs at a minimum of grade C (or equivalent), two of which must be in Maths and English Language plus one from a technical subject area, such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Science Engineering, or any other Engineering subject. Telemetry/Telecommunications roles also require you to either have an ICT or Control Systems qualification as one of your 5 GCSEs
  • To be self-motivated
  • To be well organised and show an interest in your own career development
  • To demonstrate a practical approach to solving problems, with good attention to detail and a genuine pride in the quality of your work
  • To be a team player with excellent communications skills.
